| Second son of a wealthy, influential Novgorodian merchant. Early in life, he encountered foreign coastal merchants bringing their goods to trade for exotic furs at the busy Novgorod marketplace. Hearing stories of boundless adventures of imagination, he decided a seafarer's life was for him. After completing a Shipwright's apprenticeship at the Arsenal of Venice as well as a decade as a galley patrol officer in the Doge's Navy, he returned to the Hanse in search of a ship that needed a captain. He dreams of adventures to be had, dangers to be faced, and fortunes to be made as he strives to make his mark on the world. |
