Position Details

The Media Relations Deputy is the contact person for any questions from local groups about working with the media. This person will ensure all reportable events are communicated to the Chronicler, who will report it to the Kingdom Seneschal and the Deputy Society Seneschal for Media Relations. This includes all contact with the media. This deputy is also responsible for making sure all groups report any media contact within the seven day policy. If anything happens that could produce negative media, this person contacts the Chronicler, who reports it to Deputy Society Seneschal for Media Relations immediately, and does what he/she can to prevent any negative publicity. This person is also the main media contact for the Kingdom of Northshield. More information about this position available in the "Media Relations and External Publicity" policy from the Society Seneschal. The Media Deputy should introduce themselves to event organizers. If there is media presence at the event, the deputy should make sure the person is comfortable working with the media. If they are not, the Media Deputy should work with the press. If media presence is known prior to the event, the Media Deputy is responsible to work with local group members to prepare them for working with the press and to ensure they know the key information, such as highlighing the educational component, family-friendly activities, and the safety measures and training required for certain activities. The Media Deputy will receive Google Alerts. The deputy will view them and if they pertain to our Kingdom, they will follow up or just record them in the report, which is submitted to the Chroniclor on a quarterly basis. If requested, the Media Deputy is responsible for press-kit materials to local groups and individuals. The time requirements of this office varies from 1 hour a month to 3 hours, if the Media Deputy is need to work with the press at an event.
