From a French family that moved from France to help fight the English in Scotland. Being a religiously scholared man, heard of the crusades and started his pilgrimage   upon getting to the holy lands and seeing what was being done in "Gods name"  decided it was not what was being made out to be.  Being a educated man he decided to fallow the rout the Israelite took out of Egypt just in reverse.  Upon reaching Egypt area he was captured by the Fatimids and was about to be killed when he caught the eye of a local high ranking man's daughter who begged for his life.  It was granted and she married him.
