The Barony of the Bridge and the College of Arms welcomes one and all to the Known World Heralds and Scribes Symposium to be held June 22-24, 2012 at the Radisson Airport Hotel in Warwick, Rhode Island.

This will be an excellent opportunity for heralds and scribes of all skill levels to come and share their knowledge or exchange ideas with other heralds and scribes.

Tentative schedule:

Friday night: 7-Midnight Meet and Greet in one of the hotel meeting rooms. Come see who is here and catch up with old friends!

Saturday -Daytime: We will have several rooms available for classes from 9AM to 5PM on Saturday. There are board rooms with conference tables and larger meeting rooms the will be set in different configurations. When submitting a class to the class coordinator, please let them know what size class you are willing to teach (i.e. a gold leafing class may be limited to 12 due to the hands on nature of the class where another class may not be limited as it is a presentation). Due to extremely high A/V rental rates at the hotel, please contact the autocrat or class coordinator if you have any special A/V needs for your class.

Saturday Evening: We have a thriving dance community here in this part of the East Kingdom. Dance master Maurin Lessault will lead dances for a ball in one of the rooms Saturday night. We will offer a Ball only admission rate of $5 from 5-8PM for any one wishing to just come and dance.

Sunday Morning: The Laurel Road Show. At this meeting, Laurel, Wreath and Pelican will review current submissions and lead discussions of interest to the College of Arms.

Other tentative events planned for the weekend include a possible trip to the RISD Museum or a Lovecraft Walking Tour of Providence (additional charges may apply).

There is no feast planned for the event but there is a restaurant on site, as well as several within walking distance or a short drive. There are a variety of dining options from fast food to casual dining to full service restaurants.

The site for this event is the Radisson Hotel Providence Airport 2081 Post Road, Warwick, Rhode Island 02886. Warwick is centrally located in the heart of Rhode Island. It is an hour south of Boston and is easily accessible by Interstate as I-95 runs through the middle of it. T.F. Green Airport (PVD) is located in across the street and a transportation hub is located near to the airport via covered walkway and moving sidewalk. This transportation hub has access to rental cars, buses and commuter rail to Providence and Boston. There is a complimentary shuttle from the hotel to and from the airport and to destinations within a 5 mile radius with airport passengers taking precedence. Scenic Newport with it's famed mansions and Cliffwalk is 40 minutes away from Warwick to the south. Providence offers a variety of attractions including historical sites on the East Side in the area of Brown University. The RISD museum is also located in Providence. Higgins Armory, Sturbridge Village and Plimoth Plantation are all within an hour drive.

Other area attractions include the casinos Twin River (20 minutes north) and Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun (about an hour to the south). The south coast of Rhode Island also features miles of beaches and Warwick has a lovely City Park with a beach close to the event site.

The discounted lodging rate for this event is $83 a night for standard rooms and $103 a night for Executive suites. These rates will be available for three days before and three days after the event should you wish to make a vacation of it here in Southern New England.

There will be a hospitality suite available during the event with light snacks and a small place to socialize and take a break.

Merchants: We have some space for merchants. Merchants must get a sales permit from the City of Warwick Board of Public Safety

Due to the limited space for merchants, merchants with wares of interest to the heraldic and scribal communities will be given preference. Merchant fees will be $25 for a 6 foot table. Please contact the merchant coordinator for more information.
