I am a mid 12th-Century Irishwoman, who has traveled far from home into the Northern Land of Nordskogen. Born to an noblewoman, and the second son of a nobleman who was a member of the clergy (Irish priests were permitted to marry until the Lateran Council in 1123, when all such marriages were declared null and void), I was raised and schooled in Ireland, until my Irish and English parents sent me to Europe. I traveled to a school for gentle women in France, and to Italy and the Mediterranean area, and was fostered by a most loving family, an Anglo-Saxon mother and an Italian father. I learned the arts of the dance, of the scribe, and many ways with textiles and fibers, cooking and most of all, the arts of drawing and painting, of printmaking and of books.

When I was able. I made my own way in the world, my father having retired to a monastery and my mother to her people, places to which I had no intention of returning. At this time, I studied more under several teachers, learning the arts of textiles and of the book, and I also took an Irish name to reflect my history. Then I had freedom and knowledge, including trading in the arts and fine goods, and running a small workshop for creating books and missals, with several scribes in my employ. My artwork and my clothing reflects this mix of influences. Now I am living in the Northlands, but still traveling for trade and business.

Interests
All forms of textiles and the book arts - weaving, embroidery, illumination, printing, woodblocks and book binding, drawing and painting throughout our time period. Learning more about period cooking and baking. I am very interested in the influences of art and architecture and fashion on each other, how trade affected certain fine goods (such as beads and spices), and in exploring a wide variety of cooking traditions and gardening. I love what we would call "natural history" as shown in period illuminations and drawing; carpet pages in illumination in any culture; jewelry and textiles.

Device Blazon (approved 09/2020): Quarterly argent semy of tortoises vert and sable, a Lacy knot within and conjoined to an annulet quarterly sable and argent.
