| Just a Viking peasant working around our village, farming, washing and taking care of what animals we have. I am sometimes able to collect beads for doing extra for our King and Queen like serving the special dinners after our warriors come back from a raid. From seeing some of the fine fabrics brought back, the color I like the most is purple. It is so grand looking. When I have free moments (usually at sundown), I love to go out to the fields and watch as our animals graze. I watch as the butterflies and dragonflies flutter around the wild flowers at the edge of the woods. In the spring, I can fill myself with the scent of the scattered lilac bushes. When night falls, I enjoy laying in the grass and stare at the stars above. I try to see what the navigators see in them, but I don't know. I see shapes in the stars so beautiful and bright. Although I live a simple, working life, I enjoy what I do for our village and I enjoy the moments I can steal for myself. |
