Planned Activities: Arts & Sciences Competition
The format for the 2022 Griffin Needle event has changed! We are now running it as an A&S Slumber party. No competition, just a free-for-all all night crafting and sewing binge! We will still have a show and tell period at the end where all participants will be invited to show off what they accomplished over the night. Almost all crafts welcome, but please check with Eithni if you plan to do anything loud/messy/stinky/on fire/otherwise potentially dangerous or disruptive.

7:00 PM – Site opens to attendees – LET THE CRAFTING BEGIN!!!

Needles down! Competition Ends Show and Tell – all attendees will be invited to get up and show off what they accomplished

Fees

Competitors or Weekend pass (Friday and Saturday): $20 ($15 for members)
Friday Daytrip: $10 ($5 for members)
Saturday Daytrip: $15 ($10 for members)
Children under 12 years old: free
Full Board (Friday late night through Saturday night feast) $20
Feast only (Saturday night dinner) $TBD

 

Food Details

In 2022, we will be requiring pre-registration for the meal plan. Details will be available in August 2022.

Meal options will be focused on low-mess, low-staining, easy-to-eat-while-sewing items.
2019 info is below and 2022 fare is likely to be similar!

Full Board Menu for 2019:
Snack #1 (3 AM): Muffins and hard-boiled eggs
Breakfast (8 AM): French toast bake, bacon, fruit, and oatmeal.
Lunch (Noon): Sandwich bar, and your choice of soup (Zuppa Toscana, or vegan Dal), brownies
Snack #2 (2 PM): Roasted chickpeas, and whatever’s left from previous meals.
Dinner (6:30 PM): Baked potato bar with shredded bbq chicken, leftover cold cuts, etc. Apple crisp.

General Notes:
Coffee, Tea, and Water will always be available.
Special requests will attempt to be accommodated if notice is provided in advance to the food coordinator.

Site and Lodging Details

  • COVID-related restrictions will be evaluated as the event date approaches. All Society, Kingdom, and modern rules will be followed. The health and safety of all participants is the priority.
  • Site is handicapped accessible (outdoor ramp from first to second level) and discreetly damp.
  • Lodging – There is no group hotel block at this time
  • There is free lodging on site in communal sleeping spaces – there is a basement hall for night time sleeping and day time meals.
  • Most people crash on site on Friday night, if they sleep at all, but there is no restriction against team members leaving for the night.
  • Children under 12 are free, but no children’s activities are planned and children must be closely supervised at all times as there will be hot, sharp, and dangerous items on site.
  • Sorry, there are no merchant spaces, children’s activities, or fighting spaces available at this event.
  • Site is damp.
