Silver Forest Ball: A celebration of the Canton of Coille Stoirmeil's 25th Anniversary. April 20, 21, 22 2007 at Recreation Park, Tomah WI.

Canton will dibate an additional $1/person to go to the Kingdom Travel Fund. Persons who wish to contribute are welcome to do so. Non-member surcharge of $3/person will also apply.

Site is handicap accessible and discretely damp. It will open at 6:00 p.m. on Friday night. However, if you show up early, you will likely be put to work!! Site will open at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday.

At this time, no children's activities are planned, however, there may be activities suitable for them. Check the website for further updates in mid-March.

There will be no merchanting at this event.

There will be both heavy and light fighting. Fighting will tenetively begin at 10:00 a.m. Saturday. Check our website mid-March for full details.

There are several eateries ranging from fast food to family style to Chinese not far from site, as well as a grocery store. A lunch will be available on Saturday. No lunch fee set at this time, but will be very reasonable.

Daytime activities will include, but are not limited to, Pin the Wings/Tail on the Griffin (adults will pin the wings, children the tail); Chair Jousting; Chess; Handkissing Contest; Best Cape holding more than one person.

THERE WILL BE A BARDIC CHALLENGE TO DETERMINE THE NEXT CANTON BARD! Current reigning (and so far, only) Canton Bard is Ingrid the Crafty. The theme is simply "The Canton of Coille Stoirmeil". Contest will be held between removes during Feast, and winner is acclaimed by the populace. In the case of a tie, Their Majesties might have to decide.

Details on nearby motels will also be available for those who do not wish to sleep on site. Contact the Event Steward or the Reservations Steward.

Sleeping on site will be like TMT. There are a limited number of 10' x 10' spaces or "rooms". Your room reservation does not cost extra, but when you send in your site/feast reservation, you must indicate the fact that you want to reserve a room. If more than one person will be sleeping in the room, please send their names in at the same time. You must have at least 8 people to reserve a full pavilion. First paid, first served. No room will be held without a fully paid site reservation. Please indicate if you are staying both Friday and Saturday nights, or just Saturday night. Bring your own sleeping gear. You may decorate your space as much or as little as you like.

Due to unforseen circumstances, the feast has been modified, but all dishes will still be from the Feast of the Beast menus from years ago. If you have food concerns, please e-mail the Event Steward or co-Feast Steward, Lady Kori, with full details, and we will address them.

After the feast, there will be a ball co-ordinated by Lady Thea of Jararvellir, Dance Mistress of the Barony of Jararvellir. Music will be provided by the Jararvellir Music Guild, and other sources. YOU MAY DANCE UNTIL YOU DROP!! There is no limit to the time of the ball, and Lady Thea has dedicated herself to go as long as anyone has a desire to dance. She will also be offering at least one class during the day for people to brush up their skills or simply to learn something new.

There will be lots of surprises. If anyone has pictures of past Canton events or pictures of members/other SCA folk taken within the past 25 years that the populace would find amusing (sorry--interesting), we would appreciate it if you could send/bring them to the event for display. Please put your name/address on the back. If you wish to send them ahead, you may send them to the Event Steward. They will be returned to you safely.

Male members of the Canton will be wearing the colors of silver and black, female members will be wearing silver and white. If possible, we ask that you avoid those color combinations. But we do request that you include the color silver somewhere in your accessories in honor of the event.

FIGHTING INFO

It will be a heavy weapons tourney of three styles, a rapier tourney, then both will have a chance to work on pre-Pennsic fighting. All fighters will also be going through an honor tourney. All non-combatants will have ribbons and will bestow them on any they spy performing acts of honor and chivalry.
