Unofficial Northshield Gallery Shutdown Notice

After considerable deliberation, procrastination, and vacillation, Mistress Elashava and I have come to the conclusion that the Unofficial Northshield Gallery that I've hosted at http://nsgallery.melm.org for nearly a decade is no longer a viable concern. The underpinning software (Gallery2) is really not designed for the sheer quantity of photos we're managing, and is also not really being maintained. The upgrade path to Gallery3 is not straightforward and even if it were, Gallery3 is also not really designed for the sheer numbers.

When we created the gallery, there were very few alternatives for photo sharing; now, there are many. While I agree that it would be nice to be able to continue having a central archive that was specifically for Northshield, I just don't believe the current model for doing so can be continued.

Therefore, on or about Thursday, 10 April 48 (2014), the Unofficial Northshield Gallery will be taken off-line. Not long after that, the storage its currently using up will be reclaimed.
