October Missive

Greetings and Salutations do We, Yngvar and Isabella, send unto the Populace of Northshield!

The Fall winds continue to blow across Our lands and the harvests have successfully come in to help prepare Us for the long winter ahead. This time allows Us to reflect on how amazing this summer has been.

While Isabella enjoyed playing “Paul Bunyan” croquet with the rest of the Royal Family at Raid the Brewery, Yngvar shone brightly at Our own group’s Castle Fever as He witnessed the elevation of one of Our newest Laurels. Border Skirmish for Isabella was particularly fun because She was able to connect with Our cousins from the Middle Kingdom and She got to shoot Mirabelle for the first time as Princess of Northshield. Being a mighty Archery Princess of Northshield has always been a dream of Hers. July brought in Warriors and Warlords, one of the Kingdom’s largest events. This was not only a great, fun event for both Yngvar and Isabella, but it was packed with memorable experiences such as parading into court on horses with Our Royal Forebears and the visiting Royals from the middle, and the epic and wonderful Princess’s Sleeve Tourney held on Friday. Isabella will never forget the 36 fencers who entered the tournament and how amazing each made Her feel.

August was Pennsic for Isabella and Poor Man’s Pennsic for Yngvar. Isabella was blown away by the amazing ways the people of Northshield represented their kingdom. Their Majesties were exemplars of grace, fun, and support. We had representatives from Northshield in both the Archery Champions Team AND the Thrown Weapons Team! Isabella got to represent Her Kingdom by shooting Mirabelle and throwing axes AND got points with each activity! She was impressed with the Northshield A&S entries and with how Our people cared for each other all war week. She also heard nothing but positive things from people outside the Kingdom. Poor Man’s Pennsic was equally impressive and fun for Yngvar. He delights in laid-back events filled with good stories, great fighting, and good food. At the time of writing, Crispin’s Archery Thing is still on the horizon, but Isabella will always delight in archery events where She can witness the might of Northshield’s Archery Corps!

This summer was filled with laughter, memorable stories, and witnessing the pride the people of Northshield have for their fellows and for the things that bring them joy.

October may bring fewer events, but it does bring Crown Tournament! This fall, it will be held in the Shire of Border Downs. Please refer to last month’s letter or to the announcement on the website for more information regarding Our tournament format. Please remember that letters of intent are due no later than 11:59pm the night of Our Coronation. Feel free to reach out to either of Us with questions you may have. Please also note that Yngvar and Isabella will be attending Pirate for a Day, Haustblot, and Sharp Pointy Things. This means We need as many award recommendations as possible so We can acknowledge all the great things the people in Our Kingdom do! Also, please make sure that you create a profile on the Kingdom website and update when you might be attending events. This will help us get Our awards to the recipients in person; something We look forward to doing!

We close this month by saying, “Fight well in the months ahead, dance often, and have fun!”

Yours Ever in Service to the Dream and to Northshield,

Yngvar & Isabella
