Greetings, Northshield!

In the SCA we often talk about various areas of interest as “communities” – the rapier community, the armored community, the A&S community. This term is broad and inclusive, but at the same time it can feel vague.What does your A&S community look like? Is it a local group of crafters you gather with? The experienced artisan you text with random questions in the middle of a project? All the people you’ve ever taught the basics of an art form? The person who first showed you how to do a certain craft? All of these things? Is it about support, encouragement, instruction, companionship? Do you find it in person, online, or both? Do you want more of it? Has it changed for you over time? For the month of May, I encourage you to reflect on what the “A&S Community” means to you. I look forward to hearing what you value most.
