Greetings unto the Populace,
My time of service as your Kingdom Exchequer is drawing to a close. By the time this missive is published, there will be only a few weeks left until Duchess Æsa steps up as your next Kingdom Exchequer.
In my time in the office, there have been some interesting changes. Society has required that the Kingdom switch from using the standard spreadsheets for ledger and reporting to maintaining our records in QuickBooks. That required a fairly steep learning curve, as I had never used QuickBooks, but I’m pleased that the structure we created provides clear reporting on all the accounts we hold, and the processes for reconciliations and reporting are simple and fairly straightforward.
We have finally started using PayPal to accept preregistrations for events. I’ve been very grateful to Marion Wollenschlager, my previous PayPal Deputy, Nell the Innocent, who holds the office now, and Mary of Carrigart for their work to make the process functional and as simple as possible. We await approval of our updated PayPal policy by the BoD to begin using PayPal to accept heraldic payments and donations to the Kingdom, as well.
I’d also like to thank all my other deputies for their service during my tenure. Riva of Darkstone just stepped down as my Eastern Regional Deputy, and Asabella of Caer Antwerth Mwar has stepped into that office. Anne Geoffreys of Warwick has held both the Book Reviews Deputy and the Warrants Deputy offices, but recently Aneira Applegate has stepped into the Warrants position. Guenievre du Dragon Vert has been the Regalia Minister until her recent change in status as Princess! Geoffrey of Warwick was her Emergency Deputy, and has stepped in to handle the office until a new Regalia Minister can be named. Gwenllian verch Rhys de Goer has kept me current on reporting as NMR Deputy. And Gweniver Kenwyn of Roseveth has served as my Education Deputy, helping new Exchequers learn how to do their jobs. I am grateful for all their help.
Finally, I’d like to thank all the local group Exchequers who have faithfully reported through the trying times of the pandemic. It is their work that lets the Kingdom Exchequer provide accurate reporting to Society, and keep Northshield in their good graces.
Please continue to support Æsa as she steps into the role. She will be depending on all your help to do a trying but important job.
Yours in Service to the Dream,
Bayard
