Wisconsin regulations for merchants- MUST READ!!!

Greetings Unto All Wisconsin Exchequers, Seneschals and Event Stewards,

Some new information has come to light regarding merchanting at events. Below you will find the official statement from Ghita, Our esteemed Society Exchequer, regarding this.

(from Ghita)

Effective today, all branches holding events in Wisconsin must collect s240 forms from merchants selling at those events in order to comply with Wisconsin state law. Blanks will be made available by the autocrats to enable collection of completed forms on the day of the event. Submission of the information can be either via the downloaded spreadsheet at http://www.dor.state.wi.us/forms/sales/s-240a.xls completed and submitted via email, or printouts of the completed individual forms located at http://www.dor.state.wi.us/forms/sales/s-240f.pdf mailed to the State office.

If the spreadsheet submission method is used, the completed individual forms should still be kept by the branch for each event for at least two years in case there's a problem. If a vendor doesn't comply by handing over the completed form the day of the event (and the autocrats should probably have blanks available to make sure), I would say that they can't vend at that event. I can see some vendors taking issue with the whole SSN thing if they aren't professional vendors, and I want to head that off right at the pass - for Wisconsin events, no form, no selling. (end from Ghita) Any questions regarding this can be brought up at Officer's Day when Ghita will be in attendance.

This is effective TODAY! Please send me copies of the forms and I will hold onto them as well in your files.

If you have any questions, please contact me.
