The Office of Herald is searching for gentles to fill the following positions:
POLARIS PRINCIPAL HERALD
The Polaris Principal Herald (Polaris) is responsible for the maintenance and continuation of the Northshield Colleges of Heralds and Scribes. Polaris reports to the Society Herald, Laurel Sovereign of Arms. This is primarily an administrative role.

Polaris is responsible for ensuring that the following duties are completed either by themselves or by a member of their staff.
These duties include delivering and meeting deadlines for the following:
– Ensure that the Colleges of Heralds and Scribes meet the needs of the populace.
– Ensure consistent and reliable communication with their staff, including lesser officers, deputies, and local officers.
– Ensure deputies maintain documentation according to document handling best practices.
– Ensure court reports, officer data, and warrants are available to the populace, Crown, Stallari, and Society officers as required.
– Ensure consistent processing of heraldic submissions and LoAR notifications.
– Ensure heraldic staffing for kingdom court in coordination with Their Majesties.
– Provide training in the roles and responsibilities of a herald and/or scribe and/or signet to subsidiary group officers.
– Provide advice and guidance to subsidiary group officers.
– Provide training and support for all aspects of voice, book, and court heraldry.
– Facilitate access to heraldic and scribal resources.
– Compile quarterly reports for the Society.
– Maintain any relevant email lists and social media groups.
– Maintain any relevant handbooks, resources, and other forms.
– Attend Stallari meetings as a member of the Stallari Council.
– Serve as a member of the Northshield Financial Committee.
– Advise the Crown in all matters related to heraldry and scribal activities.

The workload will vary but expect to put in an average of 3 hours a week with occasional commitments of up to 6 hours for meetings.

Requirements:
– Dependable email access
– Dependable high-speed internet access
– Dependable social media access is nice to have but not required
– Demonstratable experience in one or more aspects of heraldry or scribal activities
– Moderate proficiency with data management
– Moderate proficiency with Google Sheets and similar spreadsheet applications
– Moderate proficiency with Google Docs and similar word processing applications
– Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Teams and similar document management applications
– Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, i.e., in person and via email, phone, and in written reports
– Working knowledge of relevant procedures and processes
– Strong skills in remotely coordinating a volunteer team with diverse skill-sets

MINISTER OF PROTOCOL
The Minister of Protocol (MoP) is responsible for the maintenance of the Boke of Ceremony. The MoP reports to Polaris Principal Herald. This is primarily an administrative role. The MoP is responsible for delivering and meeting deadlines for the following:
– Ensure consistent and up-to-date documentation in the Boke of Ceremony.
– Ensure consistent and reliable records of prior versions of the Boke of Ceremony are maintained.
– Ensure that the Boke of Ceremony complies with any new guidance or requirements from society, Stallari, and Polaris.
– Draft new ceremonies for review by Polaris and Stallari and update existing ceremonies as requested.
– Provide advice and guidance to anyone seeking assistance with the Boke of Ceremony.
– Provide advice and guidance regarding matters of protocol.
– Compile quarterly reports for Polaris
– Maintain any relevant email lists and social media groups.
– Maintain any relevant handbooks, resources, and other forms.

The workload will vary but expect to put in an average of 1 hour a month with occasional commitments of up to 10 hours for meetings, Boke overhauls, and updates

– Demonstratable experience in heraldry, ceremonies, and protocol
– Moderate proficiency with data management
– Moderate proficiency with Google Sheets and similar spreadsheet applications
– Moderate proficiency with Google Docs and similar word processing applications
– Moderate proficiency with Microsoft Teams and similar document management applications
– Ability to clearly communicate verbally and in writing, i.e., in person and via email, phone, and in written reports
– Working knowledge of relevant procedures and processes

Polaris is open until 30 Sep (or 30 days from the date of publication), MoP is open until filled.
