Greetings from the Northshield Chatelaine!
In the beginning of April, I was able to meet with the kingdom Chatelaines of the Known World. It was very exciting to meet with people from different kingdoms and see how things are done in other places. I came away with a lot of ideas and over the next few months I hope to be able to be able to start implementing them.
By the time the local Chatelaines read this, I should have already gotten your report due May 15th. If you have not reported, late is better then never and I would appreciate hearing from you. This brings me to the first change that came from the meeting in April.
Hearing from the local officers only twice a year is not enough for me to really know what is going on in your groups, so I am changing reporting to quarterly. Reports will now be due Feb. 15, May 15, Aug. 15 and Nov. 15. At this time I will not be asking for a separate domesday report and we will be using the same online reporting form. If you have any questions about the new reporting schedule, please contact me.
Now on to more exciting things like camping! The camping season is upon us and WW is just around the corner. Even if your group’s newcomers have been to several events, camping in the SCA for the first time can be an overwhelming experience. You may want to set aside a meeting to discuss camping in the SCA and share tricks and hints that can be useful to seasoned campers as well as newcomers (I know I figure out something new almost every time I camp). You can also point newcomers to the SCA Camping 101 article on Nordskogen’s website (http://nordskogen.org/newcomers/articles-by-members-of-the-barony/sca-camping-101/) which has a ton of information on what to expect and what to bring.
I hope you all have fun out there this summer and take the time to say hi to someone new or at least new to you!
Yours in Service,
Brigid
