Greetings from your new Kingdom Waterbearer!
My name is Deirdre inghean an Bháird. I am very excited to be able to serve as your new Kingdom Waterbearer! I come from the Shire of Mare Amethystinum, and I’ve been in the society for about nine years now. As Kingdom Waterbearer, I am here to help familiarize people with waterbearing, help to improve waterbearing techniques in Northshield, and to help out in any way I can!
As the winter months are quickly upon us and the sun is no longer so strong, many may begin to forget how important hydration is during physical activity. Please remember to provide waterbearing supplies for your indoor events. Whether the events include armored combat, rapier, dancing, and whatever other activities, it is important to supply at least water to keep people safe.
I would also like to encourage people to remember the importance of waterbearing at group activities. This includes indoor or outdoor (although not so much these days) fighter practices, archery practices, dance practices, and all else. Some groups may consider designating an individual to be in charge of the waterbearing for these events and practices. This is a great way to get involved with group events that you may not normally attend!
Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions about waterbearing, and if you are looking for someone to run waterbearing at an event. I would be more than happy to help run a waterbearing table for any events I am attending. I would also love to here any comments or ideas on waterbearing that anyone may have!
