Greetings from the outgoing Kingdom Chatelaine!
After 2 1/2 years in office, it is time I yield my position to someone else. Lady Brigid inghen MaolMichil, called the Birdkiller, has been selected from a field of four excellent applicants to become the new Kingdom Chatelaine. Brigid has experience both in the Baronial College of Nordleigh and as Nordskogen’s Chatelaine. At the time of writing we are not sure when the turnover will take place, but look for it in a Royal Court near you!
I am told there is not much room, so I will be (uncharacteristically) brief. I have truly enjoyed serving as Chatelaine and working with Northshield’s wonderful, imaginative, hard-working local Chatelaines. If I had one wish, however, it would be that more groups took the position of Chatelaine seriously enough to have someone filling the position. Right now there are only 24 group Chatelaines in Northshield, out of 38 official groups. I can’t help but wonder how much better off community relations, not to mention recruiting, in those Chatelaine-less groups would be if they had a Chatelaine.
Seneschals, please give some thought to this issue. Chatelaines, thank you for your hard work, and please keep it up!
