January 2011 Northwatch Missive

Merry New Year unto those who read these words~

Primus. The theme for this month is “Fire and Warmth”—after all, it is the warmth of friendship and kinship that keeps us warm here in Northshield during the cold, short winter days. I suppose most of you were dealing with the holiday season but the contributions that I received are outstanding. I hope you enjoy reading this issue as much as I enjoyed putting it together. February’s theme will be twofold—“Saints in History” and “Friendship & Love”

Secundus. Please note the announcement from Corporate about the raising of membership dues. I especially want you to note that one of the things that they are exploring is the development of an electronic publishing framework for use by kingdom chroniclers that supports both web publishing and print-on-demand. If you have an opinion about this, please direct your comments to comments@lists.sca.org or the address on page 10 of this issue.

Tertius. I would like to announce that THL Berengaria of Outremer from the Barony of Castel Rouge will succeed me after we have had a chance to work together for a few months. She will begin her training in January, and I hope she will be ready to take up this position by Spring Coronation. I would like to thank Berengaria for volunteering and the Royal Family and their Stallari Council for helping me finalize this decision. I have been a great fan of this fine lady for a long time and have a lot of confidence that she will serve this Kingdom with her many talents and enthusiasm.

Quod denique. I am hoping that the weather will allow me to share the warmth of friends and kin at “Old Twelvey Night,” “It’s Only a Flesh Wound,” and “And Now For Something Completely Different” in January as well as “That Moot Thingy XI,” “Tournament of Chivalry” and “Fighter School XVI” in February. Please join me if you can.

I remain, in service to the Northshield, our Society, and most of all, to the
populace~~
