October Missive

Greetings, Northshield,

I am happy to announce that the Kingdom A&S Faire will be held February 29, 2020, in the Shire of Silfren Mere (Rochester, MN). An event page will soon be available with details.

The Faire will be expanded from what has been done in the past. It will still include a competition using a revised rubric and the Triathlon. The new rubric will retain categories for Physical Object, Performing Arts, and Research. They will now be split into Novice, Intermediate, and Advanced. The format will be structured as a chart rather than strictly text, which will hopefully provide more of a road map for entrants as they work on their projects. Details will be forthcoming in a separate post.

There will also be a large display space for those who would like to show their art to the kingdom without participating in the competition aspect. (As someone who is entirely non-competitive, I understand this and want to make sure there is space for all artisans and researchers.) I encourage the Laurels of the Kingdom to come to view these displays and spend some time encouraging those who are new to their particular art, especially if you find a connection with the entrant, project, research, or any other aspect of the entry.

The church's sanctuary is available for performing arts to be judged or just displayed. Smaller rooms are also available for A&S gathering spaces for those who prefer to show and get feedback on their work one-on-one in an informal setting.

There will also be a Queen’s Prize event held by HRM Jehanette. The theme is Experimental Archaeology. No written documentation will be required. Picture/process documentation is encouraged if documentation is included. Beginners to Laurels are welcome to create a display.

Please mark your calendars and come. Your attendance supports the Kingdom and enriches us all. I look forward to seeing many of you there.
