July Missive

Greetings, Northshield,

I am looking for a group to host the next Northshield Arts & Sciences Faire, ideally on the second weekend of February 2020. The site should have some combination of these features:
• several small rooms or a large reverb-free space for displays;
• a separate room for royalty;
• a large space for populace;
• space for court (can be the large displayspace);
• space where lunch can be provided onsite (can be the populace space).

Bids are due August 15, 2019. Bid specifications are on the Northshield website at http://www.northshield.org/Resources/PDF/Seneschal/Bidding_Kingdom_level_event.pdf. If your group would like assistance in any way, I encourage you to contact me.

I am also in the process of locating active resources to update the Arts and Sciences category of the Northshield website and am looking for links to information you'd like to see there. Please feel free to email your ideas to moas@northshield.org. All suggestions are welcome.

I also bring words from the SUN Chancellor, Domina Berenice Calvina:

“I am delighted to announce that this year’s Stellar University of Northshield (SUN), to be held on Saturday and Sunday, November 9 & 10, 2019, will be hosted by the Shire of Inner Sea in our beautiful Lakes Region.

“So much was learned last year about what you want during a weekend of classes, and there will be some adaptations to the day. Northshielders love to learn by doing, so I am asking everyone who can teach hands-on classes to volunteer. There is much joy in teaching a new skill to excited people, eager to learn. And Sunday morning is the perfect time to showcase that 3-hour class you’ve been wanting to teach, as we will only have openings from 9 am to noon.

“Our site is wet, so here is a special call to the brewers and vintners among us – we have a kitchen, we have permission, so let’s learn about those special beverages that make us happy!

“Bards, dancers, and singers, you will have your own room so you can hear the music, and sing and caper to your heart’s delight.

“Meet-and-greet tables are welcome, as are consultation tables. If any of Northshield’s guilds would like a spot, just let me know.

“And the classes. We will have LOTS of classes. History, scribal, sewing, art, woodworking, singing, dancing, mead-making … the list is endless. Mark your calendar (remember, this is a Saturday and Sunday morning event), go through your stashes of stuff, and look forward to the magic that is SUN.”

In service,

Annetje
