Spring Crown Tournament Format and Letters of Intent

Greetings to the populace of Northshield

We invite you to participate in our Crown Tournament to be held on May 11th in the Barony of Caer Anterth Mawr. The tournament is open to all gentles over the age of 17 who meet the rules stated in Northshield Law, Article III. Specifically, that you and your consort have both been citizens of Northshield for one year prior to the tournament. Your membership should be valid at the time of the tournament and should allow you to receive the Northwatch. The combatant must hold an Armored Combat authorization. Finally, at least one of you must have a valid passport for the time that you are on the throne.

The tournament format will be “bring your best” and you should declare what weapon you will fight in your letter of intent. There will be an initial round robin, with the best records advancing to a double elimination tournament. Depending on the number of Combatants there may be two or more buckets or groups, and the number of fighters that advance to the double elimination will be determined by their majesties before the tourney commences on the day of the tourney. Seeding will be by the record. In the event of a tie, there will be a “fight in” for the last spot or spots.

To be considered for the tournament please submit a letter of intent by no later than the end of the day of our Coronation, Saturday, April 13th

For both combatant and consort the letter must state; your SCA name, mundane name, your SCA Membership number and current expiration date, address, and amount of time you have resided in Northshield. Your letter must also include confirmation that one of you has a passport that is valid through April of 2020, and state the combatant's weapon form they will be using. Acceptable weapon forms are Weapon and shield, two weapons, polearm, and two-handed sword.

Please note that even if a combatant and consort meet the qualifications listed above final acceptance is at the discretion of the Crown.

We look forward to you joining us at the Tournament
