February Missive

Greetings Northshield,

We are now into February and time is flying! Our event schedule is now starting to pick up as we are past the Holidays.

What we have been up to….

Her Highness Luce traveled down to visit our Cousins in Calontir, for their 12th Night. A heartfelt Thank You from Luce to the hosts and the lovely warm welcome as always!

We also were able to attend Nordskogen’s 12th Night and Tacky Garb Ball! 12th Night was a great events as always! It was wonderful to see as many people as we did. We also would like to Thank everyone who helped out especially set-up, clean-up, serving feast, the cooks and our retainers. Tacky Garb Ball – Bring back the 80’s, Luce strutted around in her polar bear slippers during the event, it’s the comfiest her feet have been! It was great to see everyone be able to relax and do something outside of the normal. We would like to say Thank you for assistance with garb for this event to help us fit with the theme, and thank you to all who helped out with set-up, clean-up and our retainers for the day.

With everything moving so fast it’s time to look to the future! In May we will be hosting our Crown Tournament at the Village of Avonwood (in Marshall, MN). The requirements to enter are at least an AoA and Corpora and Northshield requirements.

III-900
All prospective combatants and their consorts must meet the minimum criteria in the Governing Documents, as well as the following requirements:

1. Each must be a member of the Society for Creative Anachronism and have access to the Northwatch.

2. Each must have been a subject of Northshield for one year immediately before the Crown Tournament

3. All prospective combatants and their consorts must be acceptable to the Presiding Royalty.

4. No one under 18 years old may fight or be fought for in a Crown Tournament.

5. No member of the Royalty may either fight or be fought for in a Crown Tournament.

6. One member of the couple must also affirm that they can and will maintain the ability to legally cross the U.S./Canadian international border for the duration of their reign, should they be victorious to ensure that they are free to travel to all parts of the Kingdom.

7. All prospective combatants must hold a valid Northshield heavy combat authorization card. If the combatant does not hold all authorizations that will be used in the tournament, the Crown has the sole discretion as to how and whether they will allow that combatant to participate.

III-1000

Prospective competitors must send to the Presiding Royalty a letter expressing their intent to compete. The letter should provide evidence of fulfillment of any requirements for entrance by the prospective combatant and consort and outline their involvement in diverse areas of the SCA, as the Heir and Heir’s Consort may require. The Presiding Royalty will insure that necessary information concerning eligibility is provided to the Kingdom Seneschal for verification.

To the consort and combatants to wish to enter we will need your letters by end of our Coronation, the second Saturday in April (April 14, 2018).

More information regarding the tournament format and the day of activities will be released to the populace soon!

We look forward to seeing everyone in the upcoming months, have fun, be safe! If you have read through the Northwatch for February, please find Her Highness and mention “fuzzy bear slippers” for a token (only valid for the month of Feburary!).
