Greetings, Northshield!
I thought you might be interested in some statistics about the Northshield website.
We currently have 4,213 user profiles in the database, and 4,405 personas. These people have roughly 8,870 awards between them. The award which has been presented most often is the Award of Arms, which has been recorded 852 times, followed by the Award of the Cygnus which has been presented 497 times. We have 3,537 authorizations recorded (across all martial endeavors and weapon styles). We have 8,055 images on the site, which fall into the categories of 'random' (the pictures which appear in the top left corner), heraldic, persona, and scrolls/ artwork. On an average day, we generate between 45,000 and 47,000 lines of logfiles.
This is all interesting! But it's also misleading. Most of this comes from the database, and some of that information is incomplete. Sometimes people double-click on the 'create new profile' button, and that generates two profiles. Sometimes people make a mistake while filling out a user or persona profile and abandon it, but it stays in the database. In Northshield, it is our practice to record users' awards from Baronies and other Kingdoms, if they are presented to the Clerk of Precedence. So of the 8,870 awards, 3,816 were awarded by the Kingdom of Northshield, and 1,145 by the Principality of Northshield, and 1,105 Awards of Arms came from the Midrealm while we were a Principality, and ... you get the idea.
The deputies and I are very slowly cleaning this information up, beginning with the users. We started last year by sending out lists of who was in which groups, so that seneschals and chatelaines could identify duplicates (individuals with multiple names or personas) or individuals who had passed away or moved to another group. We will follow that - hopefully this month - with a list of people who have not marked a home branch or Kingdom. Many of these are the mistakes I mentioned earlier (the double-clicks, or the failed profile attempts) and there's no reason to keep them. If you have one of these, if you have no home branch listed, or you've moved since you created your profile, please go to the website and click 'Edit Profile' and change that. It'll make our jobs easier.
This is only one of many endeavors underway regarding the website. I'd share more, but I don't want to blow your minds.
