Greetings, people of Northshield!
The news of the day from the office of the Webminister is that no system is perfect. While this is certainly not news to any of you, it bears remarking upon.
The Northshield website is a pretty good website, and it works pretty well most of the time. As much as we would like it to be, it's not perfect. It's not all things to all people. It is, really, a growing thing. A changing thing. An evolving thing. There will be a time when it is completely rewritten, but that time is not yet.
We would like everybody to have a user profile on the website, because we use those profiles to track articles, awards, authorizations, artwork, and other things that don't start with the letter A. But we know that sometimes the profiles don't work as planned. Pages break, profiles get scrambled, awards get misaligned, passwords are forgotten, things happen. And we're sorry. And we'll try to make it better.
So, if you have a problem with your profile, please let us know. The web team can fix authorizations. We can hunt down missing awards. We can clean up mis-matched and mis-merged user profiles. We can fix the nagging problem which some people have seen, in which they can't edit their profiles. We can't reset passwords, but we can reconcile them. (There's a difference. It's technical. That's not important right now.) We can make your Northshield Website Experience (patent pending) a happy one. Contact us at Support AT northshield DOT org. Or find me at an event. I almost always have a laptop, and we can look at the problem together.
Thank you for your support!
In service,
Abelard
Obligatory 'The website is down' message:
"Wouldn't this be a nice time to take a break from the computer? Stand up, stretch, rest your eyes. Go get some coffee or something. Maybe a slice of pie. Hey, while you're at it can you bring me back something? I'm sure we'll have the website back up when you return."
