Greetings unto all of Northshield.
As you should have already seen in the April Northwatch, there are a few changes to the upcoming Crown Tournament format. Instead of the possibility of having Pools feed into a Double Elimination Tree, we will be doing a Challenge-In Double Elimination Tree. This removes the Pools and should make the day proceed smoother.
Explanation of a Challenge In Double Elimination Tree can be found at the following public post.

Numbered brackets will be provided on the day of the Tournament showing where the drawn numbers will fill in the tree.
The deadline for Letters of Intent is end of day on April 9th. We have already received a fair number of letters and look forward to seeing even more of you participate in this day. Please contact us with any questions you may have.
For reference, here is the updated Tournament format information, There are no changes to the “Other Requirements” or “Letters of Intent” Sections as published in the February Northwatch.

If there are 12 or fewer combatants, there will be an 8 position Double Elimination tree with either non-destructive byes or challenge-ins as is appropriate for the number of entrants.
If there are 13-24 combatants, there will be an 16 position Double Elimination tree with either non-destructive byes or challenge-ins as is appropriate for the number of entrants.
If there are more than 24 combatants, there will be a 32 position Double Elimination tree with either non-destructive byes or challenge-ins as is appropriate for the number of entrants.
Seeding for the tournament will be done by random draw on the day of the event.
Prior to the finals, all bouts will be best 2 out of 3 with choice in matched weapons determined by Precedence based on fighting awards; first:lower, second:higher, third (if needed):lower. No repeats on weapon styles. Once we reach the semifinals, the two losers' bracket combatants will need to win 2 out of 3 twice and the winners' bracket combatant 2 out of 3 once, in order to move to the finals. The Finals will be best 3 of 5 with choice of matched weapon styles determined by Precedence based on fighting awards: Low, High, Low, High, Low. No repeated weapon styles.
Allowed weapon styles are bastard sword (4-5 foot), great sword (5-6 foot), pole arm (6-foot maximum), 6-foot spear (butt spike allowed), 2 single handed weapons, sword and buckler (18" max).
If combatants do not have all the authorizations needed to use a particular weapon, it is suggested that they work on getting the authorization beforehand, otherwise a seax will be assigned for use.
Rules of the list include a handshake at the end of the bout/ bouts to conform both combatants are satisfied. If necessary, Marshals will call hold and have the Combatants discuss blows. They will not call blows unless asked.
