Greetings from your friendly neighborhood Earl Marshal. Currently there seems to be confusion on the need to present your authorization cards to the list table prior to fighting. In the past we have allowed for a an authorized combat without a authorization card in their possession to be vouched for by a warranted marshal. Concerns over this practice were raised to my office and I myself had to go re-read the Society Governing Documents to clarify if this practice is allowed.
Per the Society Governing Documents:
IX.A.6.
"A Combat Authorization Card shall be issued to each authorized participant in a Society Combat-Related Activity. This card shall be presented to the Lists Official at a Society event to register for such activities and shall establish that the person is authorized. This card must be shown to any marshal or lists official upon request. The Society Marshal shall establish procedures for the notification and registration of authorizations and the issuance of the Combat Authorization Cards."
My interpretation of the above rule is that our current practice of allowing marshals to vouch for other combatants who do not have a card present is in conflict with society, and needs to end until further notice (I will clarify my interpretation with the society marshal in my next report).
If you do not have your authorization card on you at an event you will need to either not participate in combat activities, or perform a quick re-authorization to provide you with the "temporary authorization card" until you can either locate your card or request a replacement card(digital) from the Clerk of the Roster.
A re-authorization should include a round for each weapon style you wish to participate with and are previously authorized in.
Regarding reporting to the list table. It is up to each fighter to ensure that they report to the list table. If you have a copy of your digital authorization card in your possession this may be used in place of a signed paper card provided that you sign a waiver at the list table.
