Magdalena Zoran is a Bohemian woman of the early 16th century. Her husband died in the war against the Ottomans,  the Battle of Mohács, in Hungary led by King Ludvig. She was captured in battle by the Ottomans, and managed to avoid the mass slaughter of prisoners.  After some time in the Ottoman Empire and at sea, she returned - a much changed woman.
