If you have any interest in historic food (learning about it, making it, or eating it) or the bardic arts (learning about them, performing them, or being in the audience) there will be something for you!
EVENT FEES (US dollars):
The Basic Site Fee will include traveler's stew on Friday night, the Friday night reception, and the leftovers for supper on Sunday and breakfast on Monday.
Meal plan -- $45 in advance / $55 at the door
The meal plan includes:
Meal Plan without Feast: $30 (pre-registered preferred but a limited number will be available at the door for this price)
Feast only: $20 pre-registered with a limit of 100. $30 at the door if seating is still available.
ACTIVITIES
Classes and Cookin’ and singin’, oh, my!
Arts and Sciences Display. Bardic, brewing & vintning, and cookery displays.
A&S Roundtable with the Society Minister of Arts & Sciences.Not only will the current SMoAS be there but the past two as well. Come meet Master Raven Mayne, Mistress Aibhilin fra Skye, and Garraed Galbraith.
Bardic circles every evening. We even have benches with backs around the firepit. Indoor space will be available if the weather is inhospitable. Beverages and snacks will be provided for everyone.
Board-ic Circles (Video room). There will be a viewing room in the evenings at the same time as the Bardic Circles. Relax and watch videos culled from the realm of YouTube and other sources (both of the serious and of the silly bent). Fresh popcorn and beverages will be available.
Challenges:
Subtlety challenge. Topic: Bards and All Things Bardic. Space will be provided to work on these on site. To be displayed during Sunday supper.
‘Bardic Madness’-style challenge. Topic: Cooking, Cooks, Feasts, Drink, and Food. To be presented during Sunday supper.
Concert of SCA Luminaries. Planned for Sunday lunchtime.
Court will be at the pleasure of Their Stellar Majesties on Sunday evening.
Game Show “Name that Ingredient. A game show about cooking but fun for everyone.
Keynote speakers. Dame Alys Katherine (Midrealm) Historic Cookery: Ivan Day and Hampton Court and Mistress Adelaide de Beaumont (Ansteorra) Bringing History Alive in Song or Story. Planned for Saturday lunchtime.
Library. Fully stocked with internet, copiers, scanners. And (with your help) books and other reference materials.
Merchants. If you are interested in merchanting, please fill out the forms you can find here. Preference for space will go to merchants of cooking, B&V, or bardic related merchandise.
Including a Table for Bards & Musicians to sell CDs, etc.
Northshield hospitality. From the moment you step foot on site, Northshield’s cooks and brewers/vintners will show you why we have at least one Barony whose motto is “Welcome to Windhaven, have you eaten yet?”
There will be no martial activities at this event. Children are welcome, but there are no specific children’s activities.
