Join us for a day of Highland mirth and merriment! “Road to the Isle: Scotland the Ba’a,” is coming on Saturday, April 21! Site opens at 9 am and closes at midnight. Martial activities include:
- Michael McKay’s Last Mistig Tourney: The Sequel (rapier)
- Armored Combat Tourney (to be announced)
For the less martially inclined, young and old, there are Highland Games for which no physical prowess is required, but excessive dignity is a definite handicap. Take part in a Mini-Caber Toss, Wet Stane (water balloon) Throw and Castle Siege, Kilt Races and Sheep Jousting. For bards, skalds, jongleurs and jongleuses, Kerith offers her Castle Challenge – select your castle at the gate and compose a song, poem or tale about it to be presented at feast. Bring your A&S project to show off – the theme is sheep or thistles in any medium, but all types of projects are welcome. Or test your knowledge in Medieval Scotland Jeopardy; categories include Kings and Queens, Isles, Ancient Times, People and Places, Folkways, and Historic Events (if you want to brush up ahead of time).
Lady Margyt is offering a simple Crofter’s lunch tavern for $3, with proceeds going to the Kingdom Travel Fund. Ladies Conandil and Zara have put together a wonderful French feast in honour of the Auld Alliance. Afterward, dancing will include a Scottish set and Tacky Garb judging, with extra points for plaid ad nauseam.
Site is wet; sorry, may not be accessible by some gentles due to stairs. Fees are $5 for adult members, $8 for non-members, $3 for children 6-12 (children under 6 free). Feast $10 (limited to 40). Hope to see you there! NOTE: Highway M-26 was recently rerouted and no longer goes directly past the site. When heading north, turn left off M-26 just past the Range Lounge at the "Cozy Corner" sign. Site will be on your left about 1/2 block down.
