Caoilfhionn is a woman of late 10th-century Dublin. She embroiders well and spins wool, and she knows enough about weaving to judge a good bolt. (At times she also appears as lady of 16th-century Uà Maine, Ireland, or as a 13th-century embroiderer of London.) For over a decade she has been traveling—not entirely unwillingly—with a Norwegian lord who finds it expedient to live in Iceland.
