September Missive

Greetings to all,

As we wind down the hot summer months during this very challenging year that we are all experiencing, I find myself missing everyone very much. I feel confident in saying that I am not alone in this. I have heard from many of you that you also very much miss the SCA and the friendships that we have. I am very thankful to social media for the ability to still connect with my friends and extended family. I want to thank our Kingdom Social Media Officer, Sir Ajax, for the tremendous job he is doing.

During this down time from events, my office has been focusing on cleaning up and documenting many of our processes, policies, and procedures. We have been writing job descriptions, cleaning up kingdom law, and writing new laws to address what-ifs that are suddenly all too real in this unexpected time, and building a process around how reporting works. We are building an advocate program to help people feel safe in reporting. I have been in frequent communication with other kingdoms and with Society officers to learn from them and try to apply best practices to our kingdom.

Please know that everyone is experiencing many of the same challenges that we are. I find some comfort in knowing that we are not unique. I do find that Northshield is adapting and rising to these challenges in a very positive way, and that makes me happy. I am thankful that I am the Kingdom Seneschal of Northshield. You all make this job very rewarding.

I finish this missive, as I do all of them, reminding you that the Kingdom Officers are here to help you. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any concerns or questions. The Kingdom Zoom account is still available for you to request. Please make use of it to help your group to connect and please use this opportunity to reach out to your members to invite them to connect.

In Service,

Alinore
