Missive

Greetings unto the populace of Northshield from the SUN Chancellor,

I hope this letter finds each of you enjoying the summer’s warmth. Let me start by introducing myself, I am Baroness Mairghread ingen Sean. I am the new Chancellor of the Stellar University of Northshield, also known as SUN. The SUN is a part of the greater Arts and Sciences community of Northshield and is under the direction of and reports to the Minister of Arts and Sciences. I look forward to working with Master Tarik to forward the teaching, making, doing and sharing of the many varied forms of the Arts and Sciences.

The first thing I want to do in the capacity of SUN Chancellor is begin to connect people that have knowledge to share with people who are seeking that knowledge. I plan on working toward complying and maintaining a database of teachers willing to share their skills and knowledge, as well as subjects for classes that any and all interested persons may wish to offer at planned events. I am hoping to offer the populace the opportunity to either search the database for a particular person they may wish to have teach, OR search the database for a particular subject matter they are interested in and find someone that is knowledgeable in that subject.

The SUN is just now in its early stages and before we can benefit from such a database, we need to start at the very beginning. We need all interested people that have something to share and teach put on the planned database. SO, I need you! We in Northshield are known for our arts and sciences throughout the Known World. I know that there are MANY who have MUCH to share.

Come! Share what you know, we need people willing to teach in all areas, such as: costuming in its many varied forms, the bardic arts, metal working, wood working, leather working, bone carvings, armoring, animal husbandry, herbal skills, scribal arts, and the many “thread arts”. We not only need people who know how make the “stuff” but we will also benefit from people who can teach the research skills, and the many subjects that would enable people to understand the mindset and practices of the people in the time periods we seek to recreate. This is the very historic knowledge that forms the backbone of the Arts and Sciences!

If you are interested in sharing your knowledge with Northshield, please send me the following information:

Your SCA name, modern name, contact information (phone numbers, address, email), how far your willing to travel, time restrictions on phone calls, and the subjects your willing to teach (including a brief outline on each subject matter).

You may send this information to me by mail or attach it in an email.
Mail it to:

In Service to Northshield,
