August Missive

Greetings to all,

In the absence of events I am using this time to organize and inventory my house, which includes my SCA supplies. I have found a couple treasures that I forgot I had and still more that I plan to donate to a silent auction or two once we return to events. I miss you all, but I have been enjoying watching the engagement that exists online and the opportunity to connect with people who don’t live nearby to me. I am hopeful that we can continue to use many of the tools that we have discovered through necessity.

I would like to encourage you to think about renewing or starting your membership to the SCA during this time, even when we do not have events to go to. The SCA’s primary source of income is memberships, and income is being greatly affected by the current situation. Unfortunately the costs of the business have not reduced noticeably.

I wanted to give another reminder to everyone that Northshield has purchased a Zoom account for groups to use to hold their business meetings. Please contact the Kingdom Chronicler, Baronôssa Xanthippe Botaneiatissa (chronicler@northshield.org) to reserve it. When you set up these Zoom meetings I encourage you to reach out to people you haven’t seen for awhile and invite them to join you. They may be able to rejoin us with the opportunity to connect without leaving their house.
