Greetings brothers and sisters Northshield,
This summer Northshield will be using shaftedarrows in an experimental capacity. Any Combatant wishing to use shafted arrowsmust first send the KEM an email requestingpermission to be part of this experiment, after permission is granted you willthen sign up on the Kingdom of Northshield Marshal site, if you have notalready done so.
After each event that the combatant usesshafted arrows they must Log into the website and fill out the experimentalweapons report. Failure to do so will result in that combatant not beingallowed to be part of the experiment. (Fighters that have been shot by thesearrows may also fill out an experimental weapons report on their experiences, but are not required to do so.)
For the experiments duration a limited target-areawill be used. The target-area for these arrows will be limited to the body only--anyother part of the body will not be a good shot. Nor should other areas of thebody be targeted by the archer.
All other standards will be in accordance toSCA-minimum standards per the Society Marshal's Handbook. Arrows must hitaccording to the universal shot standard as established in the Society. Arrowsmust hit point-first, non-glancing, and strike with sufficient force to benoticed to count.
If anyone has any questions about combatarchery please contact the Kingdom Archer General or myself, the KEM. To all thoseinterested in Combat Archery please seek out unit commanders so that they candeploy you in the most effective way possible. I personally would like to seemore of an integration of these troops into our army. If a battle is going tohave combat archery, I want Northshield to have the very best troops in everyposition including Combat Archery, Units that work together have a greaterchance of victory.
Along with this, the War Season draws closer. In the coming months before War Season, look to your weapons and armor but, most importantly, look to yourself. Now is the time to start training for war! Stretchand exercise and practice with your weapons of war. Not only will you be moreeffective on the field of combat but you will also have less pain the daysafter battle. Know what your body can do and be safe and I would like you allto have as much fun as you possibly can.
