Greetings, Exchequers and Populace of Northshield,
I am not a fan of unnecessary repetition or repeating things unnecessarily. So, a tip for exchequers who are preparing to prepare the first quarter report for 2017. When setting up the Q1 report on the Content tab, be sure, certain even, to select Cumulative for Quarter Type. This choice carries forward throughout the year and eliminated the need to complete two reports at year end.
For cumulative report builds on the prior report. The starting cash on the Comparative Balance Statement (tab 3) does not change throughout the year. The required reports are:
Q1 covering activity from 1/1/17 to 3/31/17
Q2 covering activity from 1/1/17 to 6/30/17
Q3 covering activity from 1/1/17 to 9/30/17
Domesday covering activity from 1/1/17 to 12/31/17
Failure to use this preferred method means your group is doing sequential reporting. In this method of reporting the starting cash is changed at the beginning of each quarter (extra work), the previous quarters data is removed (extra work) and two reports are needed at year end. One report for only fourth quarter activity and one for the whole year (extra work). The required reports are:
Q1 covering activity from 1/1/17 to 3/31/17
Q2 covering activity from 4/1/17 to 6/30/17
Q3 covering activity from 7/1/17 to 9/30/17
Q4 covering activity from 10/1/17 to 9/30/17
Domesday covering activity from 1/1/17 to 12/31/17
